New analysis has revealed which sectors have the UK’s best CEOs

The IT industry sits in sixth place in Vestd’s CEO Approval Index, with the banking and legal sectors topping the table.

The research is based on analysis of Glassdoor and LinkedIn data of 500 CEOs from businesses across 25 of the UK’s biggest towns and cities.

The Index ranks business leaders by average ‘CEO approval’ ratings and ‘recommend to a friend’ scores on Glassdoor, as well as the median employee tenure on LinkedIn.

In the IT sector, 80% of staff gave their bosses a big thumbs up with 71% recommending their company to a friend. However, the average tenure of employees was lower in this industry compared to other industries highlighted in the research.

At the other end of the rankings, the retail, travel and logistics sectors were found to have the worst performing CEOs, according to their employees. Less than half of logistics workers would recommend their company to their friends.

Ifty Nasir, CEO of Vestd, said: “CEOs in the IT sector dominate the UK business world so it is to be expected that some of them would be the most highly rated in the country.

“Businesses across the UK face a range of challenges in the near future, but an employee approval rating of 80% points to outstanding leadership. Therefore, the IT industry is in safe hands to make the most of opportunities over the next few years.”
