The recipe for ‘energising together’ starts with community connection

An energetic team at a company can make a huge difference to its successes. Creating a collective energy can boost morale and bring people together to work towards mutual goals. Jackie Kipps, Finance and Corporate Services Director at Insights, a personal development company, outlines the best ways to energise your team to transform a business.

Imagine a company not just as a collection of systems and processes, but as a vibrant, interconnected ecosystem.

The true key to long-term success and growth can be supported by ‘energising together’. It’s the collective energy of your entire community – employees, partners, learners and customers – that can transform a business from an assembly of parts into a dynamic, thriving entity.

Energy is the spark that drives innovation, fuels momentum and leads to continuous breakthroughs. When individual energy combines with that of others, it forms a powerful force that also naturally enhances the employee experience and drives success.

This was demonstrated when our global sales and leadership community gathered in Poland recently to experience ‘energising together’ firsthand. We united as a community, inspiring and uplifting one another and harnessing our unique strengths through a blend of learning, coaching, inspirational speakers and collaborative games.

Reflecting on this experience, I’ve realised that creating a workplace culture that consistently unleashes this kind of collective energy requires several key ingredients working in harmony:

Human connection

Systems that enable and support global growth are vital, but in today’s hybrid work environment, human connection doesn’t always happen naturally. It requires intentional efforts to bring global communities together, allowing them to understand each team’s challenges and opportunities.

This understanding generates energy by enabling cross-team problem-solving and fostering an atmosphere of psychological safety, where people feel free to take risks and talk and connect openly.
By connecting and understanding the challenges our people face, we can also ensure we have the right systems in place, enhancing productivity and efficiency while solving issues and capitalising on opportunities.

Genuine connection to products

Understanding the benefits and development of products is important, but feeling a genuine connection to them is crucial for sparking the new ideas that delight customers and generate collective energy.
Teams must engage with core products as your company grows, living them rather than paying lip service. For example, everyone in Insights is currently taking their Explore profile – a concise version of our flagship tool, Discovery. This tool enhances self-awareness through the use of colour energies. We also gave all our people a chance to share Explore with family and friends.

By practising this, we maintain a clear picture of how we present ourselves as an organisation, identify our leading preferences and potential gaps and understand how our sales teams, functions, leaders and managers show up. This self-awareness allows us to support, communicate and collaborate more effectively, ensuring we work together seamlessly for the service of our customers.

Quality time with customers

By nurturing informal moments you can cultivate an environment where collective energy thrives, propelling success and growth. Energising together channels this vibrant energy toward meeting customer needs.

For example, at a dinner in Poland it was a joy to hear from Marta, an inspirational local practitioner, who shared the impact our products had on her life and career. She expressed the joy she finds in collaborating with other customers. Her heartfelt story resonated deeply with everyone present, inspiring us to create more success stories like hers and helping us to connect with our purpose as an organisation.

Additionally, spending quality time with our sales organisation provided invaluable insights into what our customers truly want and how our support services can improve. Understanding the needs and challenges faced by our customers and sales community in this way is crucial. By doing so, we can refine our processes to better support them, ensuring their success in delivering.

An environment of continuous (and fun) learning

At the heart of ‘energising together’ is also a commitment to continuous collective learning. You’re not just another cog in the machine; you’re empowered to pursue your ambitions and evolve continuously, with your company cheering you on every step of the way.

At Insights we integrate learning into daily roles while offering targeted training to develop our employees purposefully. This approach generates a vibrant energy that drives our success.

Importantly, learning should be fun, which is why we are bold in our approach to gamification. At last year’s Global Leadership Meeting in Belfast, we transformed the event into a three-day immersive gaming experience that began the moment attendees arrived and continued until they left. This spirit of gamification has since been woven into our daily operations. Our philosophy is simple: the best strategies are passionately understood by the teams who execute them. We know that gamification can facilitate learning and behavioural shifts.

At Insights, we’re committed to transforming the way we work by ‘energising together’ rather than just putting efficient systems and process in place. By uniting your communities to understand the collective impact of their efforts on customers, you can help ensure everyone is aligned and provide opportunities to build strong, enduring connections.

Collective energy can propel you forward, enabling you to reach remarkable milestones and create lasting impacts.
